The Millennium rollercoaster has been a must-ride at Fantasy Island

Located near Skegness, in Lincolnshire, the Millennium Roller Coaster is one of the most technologically advanced rides in the UK. The machine has a top speed of 56 mph and is a whopping 834 metres in length, but this is not all. There are no less than three inversions, including the tast-worthy vertical loop and the gyro-maneuver.

The Millennium Roller Coaster was the biggest project at Fantasy Island when it first went up. It was supposed to open in the year 2000, but it opened its doors on May 22, 1999. It is also the tallest roller coaster in the United Kingdom. The ride was impressive, but if you can’t stand the heat you’re better off sticking to the beach. It is not for the faint of heart though, as it is not suited for strong winds. The coaster also has the tallest lift hill of the bunch, which offers a great view of the surrounding area. Its smallest snags include a lack of seatbacks and a cramped ride control room.

The most important thing to remember about the Millennium roller coaster is that it was the brainchild of Vekoma, a Dutch roller coaster manufacturer. The machine utilises a custom designed Vekoma MK-1200 train, which has LED strip lights on both sides. The track was updated in 2018, and the ride is a lot smoother now than it was back in the day. Its other major upgrade was the addition of the inverted Oddysey.
